Sleep Reward

The hired help washing dishes. She always does this with a positive attitude and a smile on her lips.

G earned her computer for having 5 smiley faces in a row. We start earning the next 5 tonight. It isn't looking good so far. I have to change the rules slightly. Instead of getting a prize she will get $1 for every smiley face and will have to pay me $1 for a frowney face. She will be able to spend her money after 5 smiley faces in a row. Otherwise this would be waaaayyy to expensive. This little V-Tech was around $20. A good deal but I can't do that every 5 smiley faces.

Great idea to be more economical too. I probably would have gone for .25 for each smiley. LOL I hope she continues to do well!

Your new rules actually sound like a better idea because she has to actually give you something when she gets a frowny face. Good luck.

When my siblings and I were growing up, we had to do our chores, without being reminded more than once, in order to get our very small allowance of $1/week. If we failed to complete a chore, WE had to pay MOM 25 cents per chore. Let's say I didn't do one of my chores without being reminded more than once. Mom didn't just deduct what I owed her and give me the difference. Oh, no! She would give me 4 quarters and I had to turn around and hand her back one of them. You can't imagine how painful that was. However, I remember having to do that only a couple of times. After that, I somehow managed to remember my chores on time. You're doing a really good thing here!

I am glad your "plan" is working. I have been giving Jasmine (my spirited child) a $1 a week, if she doesn't behave correctly, I threaten to take a $1 out of her bank - it too has been effective! -Nancy

I love the money idea! It teaches kids to make wise choices and also the value of the almighty dollar. I'll have to remember that when Nate gets older.

Well I think its ok for the first one to ahve had a little splurge might make her work extra hard now. She could always go to the dollar store and buy stickers, lipgloss, a ballaoon, that kind of thing.

It is so nice to see her cute smile. She is so darling even if she doesn't want to go to bed. And sleep is a thing a mother needs.

What a great idea...we give Kerri money for her piggybank and she does nothing to earn it - so we are not doing a great job at teaching her the value of a dollar.
And she does dishes too? Wow.

ummm. I like this idea. We have a chart with rewards for good behavior and one for not so good behavior:) , but I like the I pay you, you pay me idea! Of course I might be broke at the end of the week.... or rich.
