Nature worship (my def): putting the needs of humans below the "protection" of the planet and saying that the "planet" is our mother who provides for us giving us life and stopping growth in needed areas to protect species that are supposedly endangered. If evolution is true then shouldn't the survival of the fittest remain the motto? I personally don't have enough faith to believe in evolution as defined by Darwin or by the big bang theory or that taught in the schools.
I am all about not littering, taking care of the yard, keeping down pollutants and taking care of those creatures who are truly endangered. I don't agree with making an animal endagered to stop growth or change or to stop something that could be beneficial to humans.
I don't think humans are the cause of all the problems in the sphere of nature. I think we are part of the problem but not the whole problem.
Global warming is not something caused by humans and more scientists are speaking out about it. Here is a small excerpt from AIG.
"There are also a number of scientists who believe global warming, so far, has been slight. They believe that doomsayers have not proven their case for the expected huge temperature increase for a doubling of carbon dioxide, and that increased carbon dioxide may have a net beneficial effect. In fact, 20,000 scientists, of whom about 2,700 of them are physicists, geophysicists, climatologists, meteorologists, oceanographers or environmental scientists, who are in a position to understand the global warming issues, have signed the following statement:
There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.4"
I don't believe people should be ignorant and greedy about using up the earth's resources, but I do believe we can still use the earth's resources wisely to benefit humans and the rest of creation.
Noggin is teaching a catchy little diddy to the pre-schoolers who watch it that the earth is our mother, creator, and sustainer who loves us and comforts us so we should in turn take care of her. This is nature worship starting young.
The earth is a creation of God just like man is a creation of God. The earth groans due to the effects of man's sin in the world (Genesis 3, Romans 8:22), but God will one day restore it. In the meantime we should take care of the earth, but only because it is our duty and command from God not because it is our mother. I do believe that earth is a special creation of God for no other planet created could sustain the life He put on this earth, but it is not our creator.
