I honestly can't say that I could have named any songs sung by Diamond Rio, but I am sure that I have heard the songs before reading the book, and I knew who Diamond Rio was, or so I thought. This is a very easy to read book that gives a glimpse into the lives of one of the longest surviving intact country bands around. These guys started out with the 6 guys on the cover and have not had a change in members since the beginning. Each member of the band tells his own story about his coming to be a member of Diamond Rio and the trials and tribulations of the band itself.
In each chapter, the band members share their personal journey in their own words. Diamond Rio has since signed with a Christian label after Arista Records dropped them during the "Mess" part of the band's journey as described in the title. It is an incredible testament to the willingness to work together for a cause beyond the individual and making the band be the most important thing over self promotion.
