Pray for the Persecuted Church

Today we bind together to pray for the persecuted church. All over the world Christians suffer for their faith at the hands of governments, other religions and just evil people. Pray for God's comfort and strength as our brothers and sisters suffer sometimes very alone. Even in a more free China there are Christians suffering, being thrown in jail, beaten and killed by the government for the Christian belief.

We in America suffer, as a former pastor used to call them, flea bites of persecution in comparison. And sometimes those flea bites will shut our mouths whereas the persecuted church stands bold all for the cause of Christ. We need to pray that we are able to be as bold in our faith as our persecuted brothers and sisters.

Hebrews 11, “Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— the world was not worthy of them.”

Hebrews 13:3 "Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body."

Thank you for posting this. I recently saw a news story about a Christian woman in Pakistan who was sentenced to death because she brought water to some farm hands on a farm where she worked and the Muslim women refused to take water from an "unclean" Christian and they accused her of blasphemy. Imagine trying to live as a Christian in a country like that, yet many do.
