G is Coming Home and I Baked Bread

G should be here by tomorrow. They should be on the road now with plans to stay with relatives on the way tonight. I hope she is able to sleep some in the car and stay entertained.

I am so excited. I can't wait to hold her. She is asking already though, what is she going to do when she gets home? I have no entertainment plans at all for her. I have no entertainment plans for me either.

I may suggest helping me bake a loaf of rosemary bread with actual bread flour not just self-rising like I made last night. It took 3 hours or just over 3 hours from start to finish so like at 9:30pm I was trying to figure out how to get the thing cool enough to put in a bag for freshness without the condensation. I was only some what successful.

I haven't tasted it yet because I had already gotten ready for bed and brushed my teeth. I so didn't completely follow the recipe I found. I changed the basil from dry to fresh (all I had), the minced garlic to powdered (didn't have minced garlic), didn't have white whole wheat (only brown), no bread flour (only self rising), and no egg for the egg wash. Oh well. It looked pretty and even this morning my kitchen still smelled wonderful!

I think I may try this again tonight but first find bread flour. Any tips would be welcomed.

Adoption Tax Credit Update

Now it is settled. I signed something and mailed it today to get back some of the credit which is what is owed not what I thought was owed by a simple miscalculation that I should have caught. I am happy though with the outcome and am so relieved it is finally over.

Now I can get on into worrying about more important things like house foreclosure/shortsale questions.t

Adoption Tax Credit Update

After receiving my adoption credit documentation on 6/6, the I R S just sent notice that I should hear from them by 8/20; well over the 45 day max for reviews.

By the way, has anyone received their money from the I R S yet?

taken and sent by my dad

G grabbed some of her cousin's bravery and slid down the big water slide 5 times. She e-mailed me and told me that even though she wasn't the required 48" she still could go down eve the giant slide.

She is having a good time and we still have 2 weeks to go. Yes I am missing her still more and more. She loves to skype but I think it is more to play on the video and see herself do funny faces than specifically speaking to me. But even if I love to skype with her anyway.

This Is a Very Blurry Picture...

of one of the roses I moved from my old house (I moved it just this year). I had left all 8 rose bushes because I didn't think I could transplant them where we are now. I wasn't sure I had enough sun for them.

I put this one in a pot and it is blooming and it makes me so very happy. I tried to transplant a red tea length Abraham Lincoln rose bush but it isn't rebounding very well. Neither is the one in the pot beside this one. It was a stem of another rose (new growth with a bud) that I tried to transplant.

I love rose bushes and had some beautiful ones a the old house in all kinds of colors: yellow, salmon color, red, pink and coral. I had some other colors I can't remember now.

Only two bushes actually survived as large bushes through the renters and then this one actually was growing out of the dead bush I originally planted. I just don't know how to express how happy this makes me and it seems so silly to be so happy out of such a depressing situation over a silly flower but that is me right now! So very happy to have this one rose thriving so far.

The two hot pink flowers in the back ground were planted by G, one a snap dragon and the other a petunia, one in GAs and the other on a school field trip. They too are thriving and beautiful. I think she has a green thumb like her grandaddy!

4 Days Since She Left

Yep, it has only been 4 days and so far so good. Helps to call and skype and text and e-mail. Mom told me G has been an angel and she would take her again on a long trip like this. G finally got her travel journal and wrote down what she has done so far. I was hoping that she would use it to record her vacation and that it would help her not get homesick. So far it is working. She told me this morning she likes being the big sister to 3. Too bad for her she is stuck being an only.

Anyway, I have done not much since she has been gone because procrastination is my middle name.

No word on the house yet. Realtors are staying on top of it I think. It is so depressing I don't even want to talk about it. I am living on the river denial right now just trying to survive.

I wish I had more time to blog and read all my favs. Sometimes just staying up with the work load puts me in a dither. Usually I am so tired that bedtime comes early when G isn't there.

G's Vacation

Maybe I should subtitle this Mom's relaxation. It hasn't been as bad as I thought. I was able to skype with her on my parents computer. I took the dog with me to hang out at my parents for two days, which she loved. Caught up on some of my fav reality TV programs. Didn't take a nap because I got wrapped up in SuperNanny. Love that show. Oh and Food Network Star, another fav of mine as well as Challenge, Chopped and Cupcake Wars. I also saw "How Do I Look" and "Project Runway". I guess they are like reality shows sort of anyway.

Oh and G? She is doing great. Has 14-15 mosquito bites from going to see my uncle's pond and won't allow the "afterbite" med to be used. She actually is enjoying the "boy toys" of her cousin. She had told me she couldn't go because "what if I don't like (cousin's) boy toys?" Then she was a bit distraught by cousin's reaction on skype about her coming. His reaction when told was "oh." I said, "Well, what did you expect him to do? jump up and down like crazy?" She laughed and said, "yes." Well, her fears that he didn't want her there were alleviated when she got there and they took off playing well together.

As an only child it will be interesting for her to be both the only girl and the oldest child in a household of 4 children for 3 weeks. Yes I know it isn't the same as being the oldest sibling but it is as close as she will ever get.

I think people are a bit worried about me and so far, other than when they drove off, I haven't even wanted to cry. I pulled up my big girl panties and still remain a bit jealous of where she is and what she will get to do these next three weeks. I so hope she remembers to take pictures. I LOVE LOOKING AT PICTURES.

G on Vacation

Clementine got to come to Grammie's house today since Grammie, Grandad and G are on the way for vacation in an undisclosed location. G looks miserable and she was coming up with all kinds of reasons not to go but no daycare = extended vacation.

Clementine enjoyed the yard at Grammie's but she is getting restless now wanting to go home I think.

We came out to mail some things mom and dad forgot.

Sad G will be away for our family day. But we will celebrate when she gets home.
G just left on a 3 week vacation with her grandparents. They've been gone 5 mins and I miss her terribly. Please pray for both of us.

Weekend Zoo Visit

We headed to the zoo on Saturday with some new friends. A girl I work with and her children came. We had such a good time and were oh so very tired. We even unintentionally made it for the python feeding of a rabbit. We saw the legs go down. Apparently it took 2 1/2 hours for the snake to finally swallow the rabbit. And it was a pre-dead rabbit like the python that ate the pre-dead pig two years ago.

G is gearing up for a whole 3 weeks of travel with grammie and grandad since I have to work and can't afford daycare she gets to go with them to see some family on the east coast. I am so hoping they will take the three weeks and see some sights. I gave her a small travel journal to help get her excitement up. We packed her clothes but I realized today I forgot somethings in it, specifically the journal. Good thing they aren't leaving until the end of the week. I will just have to bring it back out to them.

I am so going to miss her but am trying to stay really positive so she won't be upset about it. We have no other choice right now.
